RECAP. #MaattaMaanCrush Pens WIN

The Vancouver Canucks and new head coach John Tortilla made their one and only trip to Consol Evergy Center this year unless both teams make the SCF which would be really really fun.  The Pens were able to take home the win in the shootout.  What we love most though is that Olli Maatta scored his first NHL goal.  He hopped in a rush with Sid and Kunitz and made an elite center drive.  Crashed the net.  And banged home a rebound.  What you may not have noticed at first was that Maatta lifted the stick of one of the Sedin sisters while driving the middle of the ice and it cleared a lane for Sid to get the puck to Kuni.  Completely under rated play that not many 19 year old D Men would make.

We learned late last night that the Pens will NOT be sending Olli Maatta back to juniors after tomorrow's game against the Avs.  He will be staying with the Pens.  Length of time on that stay is undetermined.  If he keeps playing the way he is playing he will be here for a long long time.

Pens next game is tomorrow vs Colorado.

Go Pens
