20 years of frustration. 20 years of pent up anger. 20 years of losing. 20 years of all that shit made what happened last night in PNC Park so damn special. In the 1st playoff Baseball game in the city of Pittsburgh for the 1st time in 20 years the Pirates went out and took it to the Reds. Francisco Liriano retired the 1st 6 batters in order. Then in the top of the 2nd the Bucco bats went to work. It all started with Marlon Byrd. A man who at 36 years old, never played in an MLB playoff game. But last night in his 1st at bat he ripped one to left field of of Johnny Cueto. You knew it was gone as soon as he hit it. 1-0 Bucs. Then the wheels started falling off for Johnny Cueto. He retired Pedro Alvarez but as Russell Martin was at the plate one of the more bizarre things you'll ever see happened. Cueto dropped the ball. Just flat out dropped the ball. Then 40,000 Pirates fans went to work. Chants of "Cueeeeeeeeeeeeto. Cueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeto" rang out throughout the ball park. Watch and enjoy one more time.
Awesome. Just awesome. The Pirates made it 3-0 on a Pedro Alvarez sac fly. The Reds acted like they were gonna come back when they made it 3-1. They almost did but some jobber hit a long foul ball. The Pirates were able to plate 3 more runs before it was all said and done. 1 of them being another Russell Martin homer. All in all the final score ended up being 6-2 Bucs.
The Pirates now move on to the NLDS where they will play the St. Louis Cardinals whom they took 10 of 19 games from this season. Batman AJ Burnett will be on the hill Thursday. Game time 5 p.m.
There are reports swirling around out there that someone punched Dallas Latos, wife of Reds Matt Latos, in the face. Whatever. She can go suck a dick. We hear she's pretty good at that.
Go Bucs
