In 52 Days....

The Pittsburgh Penguins are 52 days away from opening up their 2014-2015 National Hockey League Season against the Anaheim Ducks. So today, our look into the Pittsburgh Penguins jersey number history bring us to the number 52. One player in Penguins history has worn the number 52.

Damn. Sorry, wrong Rusty

Rusty Fitzgerald

Rusty Fitzgerald was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second round (38th overall) of the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. Fitzgerald played 25 games in his NHL career, all of those games coming in a Penguins uniform. Through 25 games Fitzgerald registered 2 goals and 2 assists. Fitzgerald was also rung up for 12 career penalty minutes, all of those PIMs coming during the 1995-1996 when he played 21 of his 25 games. What a goon.

There isn't much to say about Fitzgerald. The one thing I did find was that he apparently fought the legendary Matthew Barnaby in a preseason game once.

Where is that game even taking place? That looks like some local hockey arena in West Virginia.

I was actually curious about this and a little bit of research shows that the game took place at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama. Someone commented on some hockey fight web site and said the game took place in Huntsville. A google search of "Huntsville hockey arena" brought up the Von Braun Center and sure enough that's definitely the place you seen in the video.

There literally nothing else to say about Rusty Fitzgerald. I mean here we are researching where he got into a fight with Matthew Barnaby at during a preseason game, only to find out the game took place at some degenerate hockey arena in Huntsville, Alabama. Speaking of which, why in the world did the Pittsburgh Penguins play the Buffalo Sabres in a preseason game in Alabama? No clue. This has all been very weird, tune in tomorrow to see who number 51 is, until then...
