In 51 Days....

In 51 day the Pittsburgh Penguins will open up their regular season against the Anaheim Ducks. One player in Penguins history who wore the jersey number 51.

Dave Roche

Dave Roche was drafted in the third round (62nd overall) in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft. He played in 132 games for the Penguins during the 1995-96 and 1996-97 seasons. Roche netted 12 goals, registered 12 assists, managed to receive 288 PIMs, and was a -18 during his Penguins career.

Now would be the point where I would go on and talk more about Roche's tenure with the Penguins but with how today has gone, I quite frankly don't give a damn.

Now if you follow any of us on twitter (@bobbles412, @kingling43, @zackmorris82, @YouMeAndDupuis) you know that we are all avid fans of EA Sports NHL video game series. I mean half of the stuff we tweet about is NHL 14 related material. All the pictures of jam you see on our timelines all the time? Probably because stripes mad some bad call. The keysmashes? Probably because we won another EASHL Banner Championship. Every Thursday night the #BannerRunLiveTweet takes twitter by storm as we dominate our opponents on our way to another Banner Title.

When the information about NHL 15 came our we were all estactic and were counting down the days until the release of the game. We were already planning our EASHL domination. However over the past week or so rumors started to swirl that the massively popular game mode, EASHL, was being left out of the next generation versions of NHL 15. We were worried, but we still tried holding onto hope and said "EA can't possibly be that stupid can they". Well today the ass clowns at EA sports dropped a bomb on the EASHL community.

The morons at EA officially announced that the EA Sports Hockey League would not be included in the PS4/XB1 versions of the game.

The announcement released by EA confirmed that EASHL was out of the next gen versions of NHL 15. They did claim that they planned on patching in an OTP mode (Basically EASHL but without the organization of EASHL) however from what I've seen it's going to be random join lobbies with NHL rosters. The random join lobbies sucks because it's going to be near impossible to get match up with your friends. The NHL rosters part sucks because half of the fun of playing EASHL is creating your own player. I mean if you guys could only see some of the players we've made. My player skates around ending players careers and literally looks like he got kicked in the face by a horse.

I honestly can't think of an uglier hockey player, whether he's virtual or real... ohhhh wait yes I can.

That's is if the patch they talk about actually comes out. I would bet that most likely in a few months EA will come out and say how they tried really hard but couldn't get in to work. Honestly there is a better chance of Matt Niskanen's contract working out for the Crapitals than there is EA actually patching OTP into NHL 15.

NHL Series Producer Sean Ramjagsingh (yikes)

We didn't think Rammer could possibly fail so badly but man were we wrong. I guess he though that it would be better to have "real dynamic cloth technology", "authentic arenas", and "unprecedented player likeness" in the game instead of a game mode that has become a staple of the NHL franchise. What a mistake.

Live Shot of the EA Canada Offices

We're not the only ones who feel this way. The EA forums and the EA NHL reddit have been exploding. The sales total for NHL 15 could really take a hit. EA still might not care though, they have their precious Hockey Ulitmate team, where people will actually dish out real life money for card packs.

Sure there's a chance you could land an good player in one of those packs, but 99.9% of the time you end up getting "rammed". You can also earn HUT packs through actually playing the game. I did that once and ended up trying out HUT. I opened up my first pack....

"Rammed"

We here at heyyyyyfannnssss will do our best to continue to bring you the #BannerRunLiveTweet every Thursday night, whether it be on NHL 14 or some other way. I know I'm going to avoid buying NHL 15 on either system, however if I do get forced into it I will make sure I buy it used. Hopefully Rammer will end up fired and hanging out in the soup kitchen line with Jason Grilli after this debacle, because my god did he screw this up.

EASHL has given all of us here at the blog (Andrew, Nate, Zack, Brandon) some great memories. We once scored a game clinching goal in the playoffs because a player glitched and lined up at center ice when the face off was in the defensive zone. We completed a history comeback when we were down 5-1 going into the third period. We've dished out bone crushing hits that would lead to lifetime bans in real life. We scored 8+ goals in one period. We've had 100+ hit games. We won a 5 OT classic that could easily be shown on the NHL Network. We've won banners and destroyed friendships. We're the best in the world.

Tune in tomorrow for number 50. The first EASHL lockout is upon us, god help us all.
