Gameday 40. Bruins vs. Pens

Consol Energy Center - 8 PM
TV: NBC Sports Network
Radio: 105.9 The X

Tonight, the Penguins (24-10-5) faceoff against the Boston Bruins (19-15-6) as apart of the NBC Sports Network's Wednesday Night Rivalry. Tonight also marks the first time in roughly 381749731 weeks that the Wednesday Night Rivalry is actually a rivalry. The players don't like each other. The fans don't like each other. Hell, even the media doesn't like each other, which is mainly due to the fact that a humpback whale guy like Joe Haggerty is sent to cover the Bruins. Not even sure Joe Haggerty's family likes him in all honesty. These are the games that make hockey great. It's almost guaranteed that we will be Code Red Jammed at more than one point during this game. Can't wait.

#GameNotes:
  • Boston Sucks
  • The Penguins enter tonight tied with the Islanders for first place in the Metro with 53 points.
  • The Bruins enter tonight sitting outside of the playoffs with 44 points, good for 5th in the Atlantic Division.
  • Patrice Bergeron's 8 goals and 20 assists for 28 points leads all Bruins players. Loui Erikkson is not far behind, scoring 9 goals and 16 assists for 25 points. We were unable to tell if those point totals are having an effect on ability to keep his head up or not.
  • Paul Martin is a game time decision but all signs point to him making his return to the lineup tonight. Martin has missed the last 8 games due to injury.
  • Speaking of injuries, keep an eye out for Bruins players embellishing injuries tonight. For some reason, in Boston, faking an injury makes you a hero.
  • Boston Sucks
  • This is just a regular season game, so there will be no handshakes taking place after the game. No word on Milan Lucic and how he plans on delivering his death threats under these circumstances.
  • A week after the Malkin/Adams fight, the Bruins had a fight of their own at practice today as Brad Marchand and Torey Krug fought over a short joke. Really. They fought over a short joke... Boston Strong I guess.

There he goes....
