RECAP: Jackets Down. Pens WIN.

2

1

The Blue Jackets came into Consol Energy Center riding a 130 some minute shutout streak with Curtis McIlhenny (Who?). James Neal started his first game of his suspension and Evgeni Malkin returned after missing two games with an injury. Marc-Andre Fleury was on his game yet again. Pens got 2 more points to extend their Metro divsion lead to 98432923 points.

Whatever you're doing now was more exciting than the first period. Pens had a powerplay and it looked like the SteeLOLers.

The Pens woke up in the 2nd and started to fly. They owned the first half of the period. Eventually, Jack Johnson decided he should ice the puck. The Jackets got the puck out of the zone, but didn't get it deep enough to make a change, Engellend gave the puck to Jussi, who found a flying Evgeni Malkin, who literally skated around Fedor Tyutin like he was standing still. McIlhenny tried to poke check but Geno wasn't going to be denied. 1-0 Pens)) Then a couple minutes later, some chode decided tripping Joe Vitale would be a good idea. The beginning of the powerplay looked like the SteeLOLers again, but then the Pens finally had a few good chances but no dice. Towards the end of the period, the Jackets got a little bit going against MAF, but no dice. 1-0 Pens after 2.

The 3rd opened up kind of conservatively and then the gates opened wide up. Maatta gave Dupuis the puck on a rush, threw the puck to the net and it deflected off of Crosby's knee into the net to give the Pens a 2-0 lead with about 12:00 remaining. Then a few minutes later, someone on the Jackets decided to get all jammed up and Simon Despres would have none of that. They both went off for roughing. Then the faceoff came out of the zone, and I guess Bortuzzo punched Brandon Dubinsky, and Dubinsky acted like a baby and tried to slash Bortuzzo's stick and hand. Bort got 10 min. misconduct and Dubinsky got 10 minute misconduct and game misconduct. The Pens then went into the Jacques Martin Scorpion Death trap the rest of the game. The Jackets pulled their goalie and MAF ALMOST scored an empty netter but the puck trickled just wide. The Jackets came back, set something up behind the net and Matt Calvert got loose in front of Fleury and put the puck in. After the goal, the Pens didn't really let Columbus get anything set up and held on for the 2-1 win.

1. Marc-Andre Fleury
2. Sidney Crosby
3. Evgeni Malkin

Notes:
- Kris Letang played a really solid game, I'm glad everyone wanted him traded a week ago.
- Evgeni Malkin was flying
- Ho hum goals for Sid and Geno.
- Curtis McIlhenny was actually pretty good.
- Next game is like 92394 days away.

Go Pens.
