HEYYYYY FANNNSSSS: RECAP: Thank You Teemu. Pens WIN

The Pens put together a pretty decent road effort after a tough game last night in San Jose. Marc-Andre Fleury probably stole the extra point in this game. Sign me up for 7 against these guys in June, what an exciting game, especially in Overtime. The Penguins aren't playing perfect hockey right now, but its hard to really be upset with that. The Penguins defense tightened up tonight and they're a really good Ryan Getzlaf pass away from winning this game in regulation. Get ready for a pair of home and homes with Washington and Philly this week.

Before we go into the recap, in case we don't get a Ducks-Pens Stanley Cup Final, we just wanna congratulate Teemu Selanne on one of the greatest careers in NHL History. The game won't be the same without you. #TeemuForever

The game opened up and it was all Anaheim to start the game. The Ducks got an early Power Play but the Pens killed it with ease. After the penalty expired though, the Ducks kept coming. Ryan Getzlaf made some unreal move around James Neal but Fleury made the save. The puck trickled right to Corey Perry's stick. 1-0 Ducks. As the period rolled on, the Pens didn't get much going, but after a good shift, Deryk Engellend got the Pens first shot on goal, went between Hiller's pads and tied the game at 1 for Pittsburgh. Shortly after, Joe Vitale got his feet moving, got a stick in between his legs and got tripped. Ref ended up giving Vitale an embellishment call also. We're not really sure. Not much really happened in the 1st but the Ducks had one more Power Play but couldn't get anything to happen.

The 2nd started out kind of like the 1st ended and Stempniak was called for a trip :17 seconds into the period. The Penguins killed it off though but the Ducks were flying. The Penguins depleted defensemen did a good job suffocating around Fleury and Anaheim didn't really get any real chances. Pittsburgh didn't register their first shot in the 2nd period until about 12 minutes left, but it didn't show how they were playing. They wound up getting another Power Play to end the period but nothing really happened.

To start the 3rd, Corey Perry beat Brooks Orpik in a board play and freed the puck up to Getzlaf. Getzlaf skated to the net and threw a no look drop pass to Perry and he buried his second of the night. 2-1 Ducks. One of the best passes that we've ever seen. After the goal though, you could start to feel the Penguins coming and about 8:00 in, the Mermaid (Simon Despres) drew a penalty and the Penguins Power Play went to work. After getting two or three good shots, Crosby and Neal had a really good passing play and Neal found Evgeni Malkin streaking down the slot. Malkin buried it in the back of the net. 2-2. Underrated note on the goal was the screen set by Chris Kunitz. Hiller had no idea where the puck was. The game was up and down the rest of the way but both goalies were up to the challenge.

As to no ones surprise, Overtime between two of the best teams in the NHL was fun. Sidney Crosby got a breakaway early in OT, but Hiller denied him. Sid then went on a mission and shook defenders for a good 30 seconds. After that, both teams exchanged quality chances but neither goalie would break and we went to a Shootout.

The Ducks deferred to shoot second, so James Neal went first for the Pens, but Hiller wouldn't have any of that. Nick Bonino tried to score on Fleury but he was like nah. Bylsma sent up Crosby and he made Hiller look kinda silly.

Fleury gave the NHL 14 poke check treatment to Kyle Palmieri. Evgeni Malkin had a shot to win it, but the puck rolled off his stick and he just took a shot at Hiller. Corey Perry continued his good night and wristed one past Fleury to extend the shootout. What a shot. Pens send up Jussi Jokinen but Hiller just laughed. Jakub Silvferberg went for Anaheim but Fleury wouldn't have any. Kunitz shot 5th for Pittsburgh, did a fake shot to the backhand and Hiller fell for the fake shot, easy goal for Kunitz. Boudreau sent up Teemu and because he's the greatest Finn ever, he scored. One more time #TeemuForever. PensDong Brandon Sutter, with an elite forehand backhand move and roofed one on Hiller. Getzlaf tried to extend it but Fleury wanted to go to Washington. Game.
