Recap - Game 28: HAMMERTIME - Pens Win.

(19-6-3)

The Penguins were set to have a happy Hornqvist and Letang reunion at home when all of sudden they found out their captain Sidney Crosby was going to be sidelined for the weekend as a "precaution." AKA Crosby has the mumps and he's missing this weekend to recover. Either way, the Pens had a game to play against the Calgary Flames and the new million dollar man Deryk Engelland. Penguins lost another man, Zach Sill due to an injury and he's rumored to be out for 1-2 weeks. Here's some stuff.

The Penguins wasted little time getting to their game as they tallied before 97% of Consol fans were in their seats. Blake Comeau scored his 9th goal of the season and more impressively he's 9th goal at home. What a streak. Comeau's ninth goal was assisted by Malkin and Bortuzzo. About three minutes later, Kris Letang scored on a beautiful tip from a Simon Despres blast from the point. Letang's fifth of the season from Despres and Spaling. A little over seven minutes later, the Flames tallied on a huge rebound by M.A.F. (he's still god tho). Markus Granlund blasted a hard angle slapper on Fleury, in which the rebound popped right out to potential Calder trophy candidate Johnny Gaudreau. 2-1. End of the first.

Second period was the Jayson Megna T.J. Brodie #PenaltyBoxChallenge as they both competed to see how many penalties they could get in the second period. No goals were scored, penalties were called and nothing was accomplished. Oh yea, Simon Despres absolutely destroyed Ladislov Smid. Smid left the game and did not return. Apparently Depsres's hit was questionable but YOLO because it was Smid. Then Steve Downie tried to take on 18 members of the Flames and they all would have most likely lost. Either way, Downie was setting up for the ultimate troll attempt in the third....

The third period consisted of M.A.F. making some big saves to keep the Pens in the game. Of course it was Jayson Megna (who was later sent back to WBS) taking a tripping penalty a minute into the period. Craig Adams lost his stick on the PK and the Pens did a fantastic job to kill off the penalty. In the end, you just really have to see this pass from Downie to Klinkhammer for his first goal as a Penguin and the game sealer.

3rd star: Kris Letang (1 Goal)

2nd star : Marc-Andre Fleury (27 saves, .963 sv %)

1st star : Rob Klinkhammer (1 goal)
