Things That Happened Since Our Last Post

Since we don't like to report things as they happen here at Heyyyyy Fannnssss we just let them pile up and report them all at one time.  That and quite frankly we are just too damn busy.  So since our last post the draft happened and free agency started and some one retired.  Here is our extremely in depth stories about each.

  • Nathan Mackinnon was taken 1st overall at the draft by the Colorado Avalanche.  The Penguins used the pick the received for Tyler Kennedy to draft some goalie with a fun name.

See.  We told you these are very in depth.

  • Remember that time we had a lockout to make the GM's stop throwing senseless money around?  What a waste of time that was.  On the 1st day of free agency over $300 million dollars was throw around.  Great lockout assholes.
  • Matt Cooke went to Minnesota.  Jarome Iginla went to......wait for it.............Boston.  Yes we are serious.
  • On day one of free agency though the Pens brought back "The Piece" Rob Scuderi.  He signed for 4 years at like 3.something million dollars.  We most remember Scuds from being shut down city in the 09 playoffs.  Oh.  And this.

  • Also in free agency the Pens signed a few AHL guys including Chris Connor.  You might remember Chris Connor as the guy who scored 2 goals on Henrik Lundqvist while playing on a line with Best In The World one year.  Or this:
Joke
  • The Pens made some news today signing winger Matt D'Agostini.  Last year he bounced between the Blues and Devils.  A couple years ago he put up 21 goals.  Low risk.  High reward possibility.  Classic Shero signing.
  •  The biggest news of the day came from the "what the hell/random" department.  Ilya Kovalchuk abruptly retired from the NHL.  He later signed with a team in the KHL.  The Devils are already without a 1st round pick in 2014 for cap circumvention and have a $250,000 cap hit for Kovy from now until 2025.  If Kovy would have retired in 2018 he that number would have rose to 3.7 million, and 4.7 million after 2020.  Yikes.  Kovy still had $77 million dollars left from the Devils and approximately 239842375 years left on his contract.

So there ya go.  Now you're kinda caught up on all the NHL stuff.  Emphasis on kinda.

Go Pens
