Brian Burke was fired today as General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs. For us Burke's tenure as Leafs GM can be defined simply as: L O L. Whether it was making stupid signing or trading away 9240275 first round draft picks for Phil Kessel, Burke's time as GM of the Leafs is easily forgettable. Some mention replacement for Burke are Leafs assistant GM David Nonis and former NHL disciplinarian Colin Campbell. Yes you read that right. Colin Campbell.
We personally hope this guy gets it:
Pierre McGuire
Let this be your final lasting image of Vintage Brian Burke.
Possibly the greatest concession item at Consol Energy Center. Classic nachos piled high with nacho cheese, sour cream, jalapenos, and of course pulled pork from the Smokehouse.
Really looking forward to eating these at Penguins home games this year. Haven't had them since Game 2 against the Flyers.
In case you hadn't noticed Notre Dame got stomped in the BCS National Championship game by Alabama 42-14. There isn't anything better than some great Notre Dame stunned pics. Enjoy.

But the player of the game had to be AJ McCarron's girlfriend

THE NHL LOCKOUT IS OVER!
The NHL and NHLPA reached a tentative agreement on a new 10 year CBA deal early this morning. Negotiations started early Saturday and lasted well in the the morning hours of Sunday. We don't really know any details yet but the most important thing is that this is a 10 year deal and the sport that we all love is finally back. The season is most likely going to start in January 19th with a game against the Flyers and training camp will most likely start this week. Buckle up.
The only thing that can kill your excitement today is looking at the Pens roster. Mainly the defense. Oh and the fact that TK is probably going to be on Sid's line this year. And Paul Martin is still on the team. Those amnesty buyouts sure look nice right about now. Whatever. Hockey is back and it looks like from what we saw on Twitter yesterday we will have a 50 or 52 game season. If you actually want to know details of this crap go creep Bob McKenzie's twitter.
If you are looking for someone to thank for this lockout ending this is your guy. Scot Beckenbaugh was the federal mediator that met with the NHL and NHLPA to help get this deal done. Dude just looks like a winner. He should also get free beer in ever NHL city for the rest of his life.
Wonder what the NHL is gonna paint inside the blue lines this time. Some ideas we got from twitter:
The Islanders should just paint Yashin's cap number between the blue lines. - @chasingth3light
The Penguins and Sabres played in the first Winter Classic at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Buffalo, New York. Huge moment for the NHL. Luckily Youtube comes through with the entire game.
Something to do during the lockout. Apparently the NHL and NHLPA are meeting at 6:30 tonight.
