Ok cool. It's a nice cover and they deserve to be on it. We have no problem with that. Read the head line under Illustrated and the text on the side of the cover there. This is where we have a problem, We have a problem with "The Franchise That Brought Hockey Back" and "Three months ago the NHL was all but dead; then came the Blackhawks' magical run, which not only made the game matter again but made it must-see."
Umm. What? The Blackhawks didn't "bring hockey back." If it wasn't for the fans the NHL and NHLPA would have said fuck it, missed an entire season and tried again during the summer. Yes the Blackhawks had nice run and it made a lot of people look to see if the won or not every night, but they aren't the only reason people tuned in to hockey every night. Maybe because, oh I don't know they love the game or the sport. Maybe that's why people tuned in. Pens fans tuned in to finally see Best In The World and Evgeni Malkin play together. Habs fans tuned in so they could boo something. Caps fans tuned in to see if Adam Oates could turn the team around. Flyers fans tuned in to chant "Crosby Sucks". Every fan base had their own reasons for watching the NHL so far this season and "watching the Blackhawks magical run probably isn't in the top five in 29 of the 30 fan bases lists for tuning into the NHL season. If you aren't insulted by this cover then turn in your fan card. It's basically saying that nobody cared about the NHL until this streak happened. It's an insult to NHL fans everywhere. New flash. The fans came back because they love the game, not because of the Blackhawks streak. Go to hell sports illustrated.
Really hope the Blackhawks lose 21 in a row now. Wooooooooo
Go Hockey
