Tampa Bay came to Pittsburgh last night for the second time in like a week or something like that. Evgeni Malkin was back in the lineup for the Pens as well.
The Pens got the scoring started in the 1st period when Best In The World fed Kunitz who launched a one-time past Garon to make it 1-0 Pens. The Bolts would take the lead in the 2nd however when Stamkos and Tom Pyatt scored. Pyatts goal was bull shit. If you want to see it go look at the Pensblog. They have a gif of it. The Pens wen into the 3rd period down 2-1. They hadn't won a game this season when trailing after 2 and Tampa hadn't lost a game when leading after 2. The 2 headed monster made sure those trends didn't continue. Remember that goal last season against the Lightning when he went coast to coast, embarrassed some defenseman, and scored? Well he one uped himself last night. Just watch:
Unreal. No words to accurately describe this goal.
And soon after that goal Best In The World would get his. Letang carried the puck around the behind the net, walked out in front, and dished a pass cross ice to Best In The World who one timed it past Lindbeck to make it 3-2.
James Neal added an empty netter to make it 4-2. Tampa scored with 8 second left just to be dicks.
3 STARS
1. Best In The World
2. Evgeni Malkin
3. Steven Stamkos
Stuff:
- 2 point night for Best In The World
- 2 point night for Evgeni Malkin
- 2 point night for Kris Letang
- Another goal for Chris Kunitz. He's still 3rd in the league in points. He also leads the league in plus/minus with a plus 17.
- We think Evgeni Malkin is alright. Just a hunch.
- To clear a roster spot for Malkin the Pens put Zach Boychuk on waivers. But until he clears or gets claimed he is apparently still on the roster so the Pens had to make another move so they sent Beau Bennett back to WBS. Expect him to be back sometime this week.
- Rossi says the Pens are looking at Jack Johnson and Jarome Iginla. We would also personally love to tell Rossi to shove it. He also said the Pens were getting Yandle at the draft. Still waiting on that.
Pens head to Philadelphia on Thursday at 7.
