Remember a few games ago when the Pens got embarrassed by the Islols and they were gonna fire and trade everyone?  That was cute.  The theme of this game was the Pens penalty kill.  They killed of 7 Isles power plays last night.

Sidney Crosby also got hit in the face with a puck last night.  Islanders fans cheered the whole time.  Idiots.  Twitter was also a mess.  If you follow me (@YouMeAndDupuis) on twitter you know what I'm talking about.

1st Period

The Pens got a power play early in the game and wasted no time cashing in.  Crosby to Neal.  1-0.  No potential shutout for Nabokov tonight.  The the Pens parade to the penalty box began.  The Pens killed off the first of their 13249856 penalties that game.  MAF was looking sharp.  Bortuzzo almost sniped Nabokov but it hit the post.  Ben Lovejoy reportedly tried jumping out of the press box last night.  Eric Tangradi didn't have the hands to save him so Dustin Jeffrey did.  Again these are unconfirmed reports.  Pens took like 500 more penalties during the 1st.  Tanner Glass wanted to fight Colin McDonald but his boyfriend Matt Martin stepped in so glass fought Martin.

Been looking for an excuse to use this.

2nd Period

More penalties for the Penguins.  They had 3 withing a span of 5 minutes or something ridiculous like that.  They would kill all of them.  The Simon Despres would give us all a lesson in Hockey 101.  He made a great defensive play in the Pens zone to hit and take the puck away from some joke and start the rush.  One the other end he got in good position to take a pass and one timed a shot by Nabokov to make it 2-0.  Pens had a power play but couldn't do anything with it.  Pretty sure the Pens took 45 more penalties that period.  Whatever.

3rd Period

The Pens would make it 3-0 after the refs finally stopped calling penalties.  Cooke and Suttertron went in on a 2 on 1.  Cooke slid a pass to Sutter.  Snipe city.  But before you could celebrate and remember that Suttertron had more goals than Jordan Staal the Islanders made it 3-2.  Michael Grabner made it 3-1 because he always scored on the Penguins.  Like 50 seconds later Brad Boyes made it 3-2.  Bylsma called a timeout and rightfully so.  The Isles had all the momentum.  Steigy told some story about how the Pens almost got Brad Boyes for Robert Lang back in the day.  Yeah.  Shit calmed down and the Isles slipped back into irrelevancy.  They pulled Nabokov but as he was going to the bench the Islols turned the puck over.  Dupuis iced it with the empty netter.  4-2.  Game.

Stuff:

• Paul Martin is playing some kind of hockey.  He was 2nd on the team in ice time 25:13 behind Kris Letang (25:19)
• Another solid game for Robert Bortuzzo.  Pens are 4-0 with him in the line up.
• Other than a couple penalties a very solid game from Simon Despres.
• Brooks Orpik blocked 5 shots last night.
• Sid doesn't have a broken nose.
• Sid also looks like he's about to go on some unreal point streak.  He has a point in his last 5 or something like that.
• Boychuk was barely noticeable.
• Free Dustin Jeffrey.
• Iginla might be shopped by Calgary if they aren't in a playoff race.  Just saying.

Caps come to town Thursday at 7.
