July 1, 2014 was a rough day for the New York Rangers. Other than being the New York Rangers, they made one huge mistake. The Rangers signed our leftovers and bottom six hero Tanner Glass to a three year year, $4.35 million dollar deal with an AAV of $1,450,000. LOLOLOLOLO. On July 1st, the Pittsburgh Penguins inked Blake Comeau to a 1 year 700k deal. The stat comparison for this season is absolutely hilarious. Tanner Glass has played in 24 games, recorded one assist, is a -9 out there (because + / - is everything to you people), and has recorded 19 shots on net. As of December 13, Glass was becoming a pretty regular healthy scratch in New York... now let's compare those numbers to our own Blake Comeau this season. This season, Comeau has played in 30 games, recorded 11 goals and 8 assists, three game-winning goals, and has a +/- of 7 (because you guys care so much). Blake Comeau has filled in on the top six this season, doing whatever he can to fulfill his role while injuries and mumps have stricken the Penguins. Why does this matter? Because Blake Comeau once again made a significant impact last night, scoring the only goal in overtime for a 1-0 Penguins win. That was Comeau's 10th goal at home, which by stats and math is ten more than Tanner Glass has all season.

Since there is not much to write in terms of game recap and scoring.... so shots in the first period were 8 for the Pens 7 for the Avs.
Second period was a shot-fest as the Pens recorded 16 shots and the Av's 15. Bobby Farnham fought Cody McLeod so there was that. A few good scoring opportunities including a missed deflection by Hornqvist but #YOLO.
Third period was all Penguins just being absolutely dominant and cycling the puck in the Av's zone. The Pens looked like they were about to win this game a few times in third, including a great slapshot from Rob Scuderi but it missed the net lolollolo. Penguins would outshoot the Av's 19-7
Blake Comeau scores his 10th goal at home, third GWG of the season and Rob Scuderi gets an assist. Jesus. What a game. Pens go on to outshoot the Avs by a total of 48 to 29, absolutely dominant and come away with the two points in a December game!! (#82And0).
(thanks for the gif @Penguins)
3rd star: Calvin Pickard (48 saves .979 sv %)
2nd: Marc-Andre Fleury (29 saves, shutout, 1.000 obv.)
1st: Blake Comeau (overtime winning goal)
Game Notes- Marc-Andre Fleury's sixth shutout of the season (career high) and it's December...
- In Fleury's last 12 starts, he is 9-1-2
- Christian Ehrhoff left the game early due to injury, so expect an update on that
- Jeff Zatkoff was reassigned after Thomas Greiss's mumps test came back negative
- Penguins 4th line was very solid, creating chances, cycling and forcing turnovers
- Unreal game for Kris Letang, just didn't show on the stat sheet
- MUMPS
Next game: Saturday home against the Florida Panthers at 7PM.
