Before we dive into this recap we want to take a moment to send our thoughts and prayers to those in Boston. The Pens did a little Sweet Caroline tribute last night:

And in Boston, one of the most spine tingling anthem you'll ever see:
We remember when Pens fans did this with Sargent Bob during the playoffs. Kinda wish more arenas would sing the anthem without being asked. Regardless. That was awesome.
There was hockey to be played though. Montreal was in town and they have been getting scored on more than a cheap Vegas Hooker. And this game was no different. The Pens put up 6 goals without Crosby, Malkin, Neal, and Martin. Read that again. 6 goals WITHOUT Crosby, Malkin, Neal, and Martin. Jesus.
The Pens gave the Habs an early power play. Habs couldn't do anything with it and ended up taking a penalty about a minute in. The Pens would cash in on the 4 on 4. Brandon Sutter came down the left wing and sniped on on Budaj like he did twice against the Bruins. 1-0 Pens. The Pens had some power play time but couldn't do anything with it. Pens would cash in about halfway through the period. Dupuis got the puck to Morrow who roofed one. 2-0. The wheels kept coming off for the Habs. Jokeioretty took a penalty and the Pens went to work. The puck made it way to Jarome Iginla who put it home to make it 3-0. Unreal pass by Kunitz to set up the goal. That was Iggy's 1200th career point.
Fisher Price replace Budaj in the second after Budaj let in 3 goals on 9 shots. He didn't do much better. After the Pens killed a penalty Beau Bennett and Brenden Morrow were in on a 2 on 1. Bennett slid it to Morrow. 4-0. The Habs finally tried to fight back. Brian Giont'a lollipop guild got one by Fleury to make it 4-1 Pens. The Pens would answer on the power play. Brandon Sutter poked in a rebound to make it 5-1 Pens. This Habs fan wasn't amused.

The Pens took a penalty but were able to kill it. Galchenyuk answered and tried to keep Montreal in the game. He scored a nice backhand to forehand goal to make it 5-2. Brenden Gallagher continued his personal parade to the penalty box when he high sticked Matt Cooke.
The Pens power play would carry over but they couldn't do anything with it. The Habs wouldn't go away though. Gabriel Dumont would make it 5-3 when he rifled a wrister past Fleury. But once again the Pens would answer. This time it would come from one of the most unlikely sources. Douglas Murray. Murray had gone 146 games since scoring his last goal. He through a fairly soft wrist shot to the net and Tomas Pleckanec's turtle neck got in the way and deflected the puck by Fisher Price to make it 6-3 Pens. Then Brenden Morrow got to do what a lot of Penguins fans and probably a lot of fans around the whole league would love do. Punch PK Subban in his stupid face.
You don't see it in this video but Morrow and Subban chirp each other in the penalty box. Morrow tells him after their penalties are over they are gonna go again. Of course Subban denies. The Pensblog has a longer video that shows that in their recap. Habs would score a garbage time goal. See ya.
1. Brenden Morrow
2. Brandon Sutter
3. Douglas Murray
Stuff:
- Brenden Morrow man. We were all on board when the Pens traded for him and he is proving now what a great trade this was. This was the first time in his career he had back to back 2 goal games. He had 2 goals and an assist last night. And he punched PK Subban in the face. He may become a Pittsburgh folk hero by seasons end.
- Douglas Murray's last goal was in like 2010 or something.
- 2 point night for Iggy.
- 2 goal night for Brandon Sutter.
- Kris Letang: 0 goals 2 assists 28:55 of icetime. PK Subban: 0 goals 0 assists 1 fight lost tossed out of the game. And there is talk about Subban being the Norris front runner. Lulz.
- Via Phil Borque on the radio last night in his last 60 games Pascal Dupuis has 30 goals and 28 assists or something like that. He had an assist last night as well.
- Best In The World. Evgen Malkin. James Neal. Paul Martin. Those guys are going to be added to a team that just scored 6 goals on the team that is tied for 2nd in the Eastern Conference. Wow.
Pens head to Boston Friday night at 7.
