This is Ed Snider. Owner of the Philadelphia Flyers. And he hates the Olympics. Last night in the wee hours of the morning, since, you know, none of us here at the blog sleep, Greg Wyshynski from Yahoo's Puck Daddy blog post a story about Ed Snider and his feeling on the Olympics. We aren't going to copy and past every thing that was by Snider. You can read that HERE. Some of the highlights though:
When asked about Giroux being left off team Canada he said:
"Well it's a farce. He's one of the best players in the league. It's ridiculous. He's better than half the guys on that team."
HA. HAHAHAHAHA. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. HAHAHAHA. HA. Ok Ed. First of all. Maybe if Giroux hadn't sucked last season and most of this season he would have made Team Canada. If you don't remember, a goalie had more goals than Claude Giroux at one point. Also. He's better than half the guys on that team? Yeah ok. Giroux isn't even good enough to carry Crosby or Toews bags, and the only player on Team Canada that I would take Giroux over would be Rick Nash. Everyone else on that team is better than Claude Giroux. He had one good playoff series. That's it.
Then Questions about the Olympics start. Some of the things he said are:
"We 're the only league that breaks up our season"
"I don't care if it was in Philadelphia, I wouldn't want to break up the league. I think it's ridiculous to take three weeks off or however long it is in the middle of the season. It screws everything up.'
"But how can anybody be happy about breaking up your season."
Are you sensing a theme here? Snider is pissed because the NHL takes time off for the Olympics. Oh. Funny. So then the 4 months the NHL missed last year because of the lock out was a okay then? The worst part about all of this is that Snider is the chairman of Comcast. Comcast owns NBC. Do you see what I'm getting at here? Not yet? Well lets put it this way. The event that Ed Snider is bitching and moaning about, the Olympics, is making him bank. He's profiting off of the Olympics yet is complaining that the NHL shuts down for it. And once again I say the 4 months the NHL was shut down for the lock out was a okay right?
So Ed. Here is what we have to say to you in one, oh so simple, gesture.
Go Olympics
